Jacqueline Power studied Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art where she graduated in 1987. Her work’s foundations lie in the figure and in particular portraiture. On winning the international ‘Elizabeth Greenshields Award’ for figurative painting her research took her to the southern italian region of Puglia. Here her work loosened as a reaction to the unique landscape of the ‘Valle d’Itria’, which took her on a journey through landscape to abstraction. For her all her work remains fundamentally portraiture, portraying her relationship with a subject, be it physical or metaphysical.
